Super Platoons are preferably matched against other Super Platoons.
There can only be one 2-player Platoon per team, unless matched against a Super Platoon. Solo players and two-player squads are preferably matched against other squads and solo players. Players who are 10 or more Divisions apart cannot be matched in the same battle. As a result, players will clash in intense battles, fighting on an equal playing field to see who comes out on top. It will assemble teams of equal strength based on their Rating Points, Division, and Rank. The matchmaker considers each player’s position in the Ranked System to find opponents with similar ratings. Unlike Random Battles, where the team composition depends on the vehicle selection, Onslaught battles are fought in Tier X vehicles with similarly rated commanders. It's the mode most battles take place in, and it's the mode around which ships are typically balanced.Onslaught is a new competitive game mode in World of Tanks. Plus, Clan Battle stats are even further diluted by the mechanics added over the past couple years allowing smaller or less experienced clans to hire out-of-clan "mercenaries" to join them for Clan Battles.įinally, the biggest reason why Random battles are used as the yardstick for determining player skill is the fact that Random battles are simply the core game mode that WoWS is built around. It could also just mean that the rest of your clan carried you. Having a flawless record in Clan Battles doesn't necessarily transfer over to your individual performance when you're on your own. The only real differences between Ranked and Random are the team size and the rewards.Ĭlan Battles are a lot more competitive, sure, but they only really say anything about your ability to work together with a closely coordinated team, typically over voice comms. Ranked does not have any form of skill-based matchmaking, and the whole Leagues mechanic is flawed at best a complete potato can (and anyone who plays Ranked will tell you, many often do) still make it to Gold just by playing constantly until they get lucky enough to get carried through enough matches in a row. 
Ranked battles are just as random as Random battles are, for the record.
